Protect Yourself From Toxins 

Where do you start. Should it be the kitchen or the living room or the bedroom or the garage? Every second of our life indoors (be it at home or office or even in our very own cars) we face an assortment of dangers like chemicals, range of  energies, waves of differing strengths, from mobile phones, remote controls, telegraphic equipments and so on. 

This is our modern world and as much as we modernized it (very competitively between industries and countries), we have brought along with a whole spectrum of unforeseen and least expected range of side effects and ills. Do you think that discovery has stopped or in its continuing competitive environment, new chemicals and "toxins" are being discovered, "accidentally" into this world of ours.

Within the home and office, there is simply no limit to toxins and not all of it can be got rid off with a snap of thumb and finger. We can do what we can to minimise toxon content in the air in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

1. Open the windows whenever you can. Especially early mornings or after a heavy downpour. Mother nature regularly cleans the air outside with mist, dew and rain. The air outside is always cleaner than the indoor air. So do let outside air come in, ventilate and allow for air exchange to take place.

2. Buy the best vacuum you can afford. Get one with a HEPA  fitted filter. Avoid using the traditional vacuums with bags, as they tend to pollute the indoor air via the exhaust with finest dust and bacteria (cultured within the bag since last used and accumulated dust has been rotting within).

3. We all spend plenty of time in our vehicles. Do not set your car's air conditioner to recirculated air. Select for the outside    air option. You must clean the air conditioner and ducting system to reduce accumulated dust and pollutants. 

4. Introduce air purifiers within your working, living and sleeping environments. The filters prove visually the trappings,that otherwise all of you would have inhaled. Alternatively, avoid filter based purifiers (that need cleansing or regular    changing) and use water based. See http://bedroomupkeep.blogspot.com 

5. Try and avoid using wrinkle-free materials. Save yourself from PFC exposure. Some ironing would not hurt. Also, it is good to have ourselves dressed in safe, natural material during the day and also while at sleep with pajamas and in bedding made from organic cotton.

6. Trust your nose. Trust your senses. 
  1. 7. Use one-half cup of white vinegar in place of fabric softener in the washer to reduce static cling and soften clothing.
8. Unwrap and air out your dry-cleaned garments for at least two days in an exterior area. Not in the closet or bedroom.
  1. 9. Do leave open your windows and leave your mattress exposed without bed covers and sheets in order to allow your   bed to dry, let off off trapped odours and gases of the product components.

  2. 10. Keep all electrical products unplugged, when not in use. Try and use night lights, alarm clocks and other bedroom electronics that are illuminated with red light, which is less disturbing.
